PokerStars 2010 SCOOP

PokerStars 2010 Spring Championship of Online Poker Schedule Released

The annual PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is returning, scheduled for May 3 – 16, 2010. The 2010 SCOOP will be comprised of 33 events, and promises at least $36 million will be awarded in guaranteed cash prizes.

One of the fixtures of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker is the 2-day event for high-rollers, which this time around boast a whopping $5 million guaranteed prize pool.

The Spring Championship of Online Poker is structured differently from PokerStars’ other major annual event, the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) from which it stemmed.

The 2010 SCOOP uses a tiered buy-in structure offering low, mid, and high cost buy-in tournaments for each event. That means there will be a low stakes, mid stakes, and high stakes version of each of the 33 SCOOP events. Buy-ins for the 2010 SCOOP range from as low as $5.50 to as high as $10,300. This allows for online poker players with any bankroll to be able to compete for some big returns.

The kick-off event for the 2010 SCOOP comes May 3, a six-max NL Hold’em event with rebuys. But the 2010 SCOOP schedule is far from just Hold’em tournaments. It also features Omaha, Stud, heads-up games, HORSE, Badugi, and Razz.

The 2010 SCOOP Main Event happens Sunday May 16 with buy-ins of $109, $1,050 and $10,300 respectively, and guaranteed prize pools of $1 million, $3 million and $5 million, respectively. And because the SCOOP Main Event is only one of three different SCOOP events scheduled for that same day, the prize winnings on that one day at PokerStars could be astronomical.
