PokerStars Sponsor High Heels Poker Tour

The $40 million guaranteed World Championship of Online Poker may be PokerStars’ biggest annual poker tournament, but it is far from Poker Stars’ only big annual poker tournament – and in fact they’ve just added a new one to the list in the High Heels Poker Tour.

An event designed in Florida in 2007 to attract and bolster female representation on the poker felt, The High Heels Poker Tour is the latest live, land-based poker event to become sponsored by PokerStars.

Just some of the big female names in poker that have competed with great showings in this event are Vicky Coren, Katja Thater, and the GoDaddy girl herself Vanessa Rousso.

The actual “official” sponsor you will see promoting this event is PokerStars.net (due to the nonsense of not being able to promote real money poker in the US). PokerStars is hoping, no doubt, that by hosting the High Heels Poker Tour, they can attract more women to the no-risk play money poker, and then be enticed by freerolls into live events like this one into transitioning to PokerStars.com where they’ll starting getting into the real money online poker game.

The 2009 High Heels Poker Tour schedule includes a stop in Verona, New at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino this month of September; then a stop in Hollywood, Florida at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The HHPT, as it’s being referred to for short, will also hit a few other sites in its native Florida before the Grand Finale, a $1,000 buy-in event scheduled as part of the larger PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure, which is coming in January, 2010.
