John Hennigan, Pisces – March 10

John Hennigan, nicknamed “Johnny World” was born and raised in Philadelphia and later moved to Atlantic City where he picked up the game of pool. A natural born hustler and talented in billiards he eventually picked up poker because he couldn’t find a pool game running. Eventually the number of poker games increase and his career as a professional pool player was put to the back burner.

Hennigan is mainly a cash game player, and doesn’t want the attention of the limelight that comes with professional players. Although he may not be one of the more frequent televised players he has gained the respect from his peers for his abilities, including that of Daniel Negreanu who has commented that Hennigan is one of the better players he has faced.

His accomplishments above the cash games include a 19th place finish in the 1999 WSOP main event as well as defeating Men Nguyen in the 2002 WSOP $2,000 H.O.R.S.E event winning his first bracelet. During the same year he took another title in the U.S Poker Championship. His second World Series of Poker bracelet came in 2004 when he won the $5,000 Limit Holdem event. Hennigan’s biggest win thus far was in 2007 when he entered the WPT Borgata Winter Open main event and outplayed a field of 571 players to win the tournament which also earned him $1.6 million.

John Hennigan’s live tournament winnings total over $3,000,000 US.
