Laak and Eslami beat Polaris Poker Bot

The first ever Man v Machine Championship has been won by … Man.

The much blogged and reported poker event between two poker pro’s Phil “unabomber” Laak and Ali Eslami against Polaris the pokerbot has resulted in a victory for the pro’s.

In fairness to the bot it would have robbed any job average rec poker player clean of their bankroll - and it seems more a testament to Laak and Eslami’s skills that they won.

The pokerbot seemed to hold it’s own for the most part and it’s an interesting experiment in Artificial Intelligence. Polaris has proved a machine / computer can be trained or learn all the subtle poker tricks of effective bluffing and capable of playing an above average game as it’s not like the pro’s beat it in every session or even close.

The massive amount of cruddy spamtastic “buy this bot and win while you sleep” stuff is mostly just a scam to empty your wallet. It’s a myth that there are 1000’s of bots online but maybe a bot this good will change the face of online poker - who knows.
