Long Time … No Ramble

September 25, 2007

Well it’s been way too long since I last posted a poker ramble …
So what’s been happening ?

Apart from non poker events taking over for a while (stuff like trying to finish off building a garden wall - still not finished and odd bits round the house) I’ve been doing alot of behind the scenes stuff on 4kingpoker.

Hopefully some of it will be a big help to the forum members …

Week ahead tournament schedule is now visible on all the pages of the site including the forum so everyone can easily see our private tournaments at a glance.

Updating the layout on the main private tournaments page showing the week ahead in more detail.

Sorting out the 4kingpoker news section in the forum so you can see the longer view of the freeroll dates & buy-in dates as they are confirmed in advance also its now easier to find the updated freeroll league results & buy-in league results.

Tidying up the poker strategy page with summaries of each article so you can have more idea what its about.

Getting links to our most popular site reviews on the forum section so it’s easier to sign-up and try new sites.

Narrowing the forum posting section so that it’s easier to read and doesnt go two miles across the pages.

Regularly writing and adding Poker Tournament News in the poker news section on a nearly daily basis so you dont miss out on those big live tournament satellites and qualifiers.

Getting more exclusive increased bonus offers for our members - like adding $20 free to our already great Titan Poker Bonus & getting an increased Everest Poker Bonus up from the usual $100 bonus to $150 & now we’re offering for the first time 30% rakeback at DTD Poker which is a new site on the Crytologic Network.

Organising more weekly tournaments for the forum members - with 2 new leagues set to run over a total of 60 events including weekly Thursday $50 freerolls & weekly Sunday $1 buy-ins with $50 added at our top recommended sites including FullTilt, Titan, Bodog, Poker.com, Carbon Poker & PKR … That’s a total of $3000+ in prize money we’re adding to our private games.

So behind the scenes it’s been busy but there is always alot more to do, as always I appreciate all the feedback from the members on improvements that could be made to the site … so keep them coming.

All this work has left very little time for me to play some poker but following the passing away of a very old PC I now have a better one that is actually capable of running the thirsty but absolutely stunning PKR Poker - By far the best 3D poker site. Really enjoying the experience there especially now I don’t have to go over to a friends to get it running.

We’ve paid out the prize money for the overall winners of the last 4kingpoker buy-in tour … congratulations to PokerKat aka KatyMaty for winning that. We’ll be adding some money for the top 3 overall on the leaderboards after 30 events on both the Thursday night freeroll league and the Sunday night buy-in league.

So the WSOPE has been and gone (I’ll post up the results tomorrow) & Chris Ferguson has completed his bankroll experiment (see news below) which leads me to think about my own erratic play online. Because I pay out for the tournament prize money etc through player accounts my bankroll tends to be a bit elastic so its difficult to know where I am.

I’ve decided that after buying in for our PKR game tonight I’ll have just over $1.04 at PKR and some other better balances at other sites I’m going to start to play strictly to my bankroll from now on - I’ll report back infrequently with updates especially on how far I can get $1.04 at PKR.

The interesting thing I got from Fergusons experiment which took a total of 16 months to go from zero to hero was that he spent the first 7 months to get from $0 to $6.50 showing this stage was far harder and time intensive than the $6.50 to 10K obviously that makes sense but following this logic and his style of disciplined bankroll management …

If players making the minimum deposits or had a minimal bankroll of say $50 played it extremely conservatively using only 5% of total bankroll at any one time (eg. $2.50 max buy-in and therefore in the lowest stake games) then it would be possible to slowly but surely go up to a 10K bankroll without going bust and re-depositing endlessly.

Anyway thats probably enough of a ramble to be going on with -

good luck at the tables
cheers scrawnybob
